Ahmad Jihad Bojeh, a 29-Year-Old with Extensive Criminal History Including Prior Acquittal

A disturbing incident occurred in Osceola County’s Indian Point subdivision Saturday, when a man with a significant criminal history opened fire, killing three tourists visiting Florida near Walt Disney World. Ahmad Jihad Bojeh, 29, faces three counts of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting, which authorities have described as a “cold-blooded, premeditated” act of violence.

The tragedy unfolded around 12:14 p.m. at 296 Indian Point Circle, where deputies responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered three victims outside a short-term rental home, all shot and unresponsive. The victims have been identified as Douglas Joseph Kraft, 68, of Columbus, Ohio; his brother Robert Luis Kraft, 70, of Holland, Michigan; and James John Puchon, 68. All three victims were visiting the area from out of state and had no apparent connection to the suspect. Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Iorio described the incident as a “random” act of violence, emphasizing that the victims were innocent bystanders and that the community is safe.

Bojeh’s criminal record is extensive and troubling. His history includes a 2021 arrest for attempted first-degree murder with a firearm and aggravated battery, after allegedly shooting at a person and vehicles at a Kissimmee gas station parking lot. He was later acquitted by reason of insanity. His prior arrests also include felony drug possession, misdemeanor resisting an officer without violence, and retail theft in 2019. Despite his criminal background, Bojeh was reportedly detained without resistance and is currently held without bond. Authorities seized two firearms during a search of his residence, which are now undergoing ballistic testing to determine if they were used in the shootings.

Sheriff Iorio assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community, emphasizing that the violence was isolated and targeted at no specific group. “This was random violence against visitors enjoying our community,” he stated, underscoring the importance of public safety. The investigation remains active as law enforcement continues to gather evidence and determine the circumstances leading to the shooting.
